NAPRA: Wading in the Waters of Competition

N.A.P.R.A, the National Association of Professional River Anglers, is the largest Professional fishing league devoted to anglers whom prefer the challenges of river and stream fishing versus the vast waters of lake fishing. Over the last 7¬†years the league has grown from 1 member to nearly 30 professionals whom fish throughout the Midwest in “Pursuits of the Perfect Fish”, the longstanding N.A.P.R.A. motto.

The anglers of NAPRA and its divisions cherish the chance to use the precious gift God has given us for sport, relaxation, and an escape from everyday life. We pride ourselves to have a river cleanup program every time we fish the rivers. We also are working with area organizations to have a community wide river cleanup this summer.
In addition, NAPRA has hosted a Kid’s Kupp every year to bring the joy of fishing to our youth members each and every year. We teach conservation, recreation, and cooperation every event. It’s free and all fishing equipment is provided. The event is usually held in early August.

NAPRA has three professional river fishing divisions based here in the Miami Valley. First, the Dayton Fishing League has been in existence for over five years. We have fished every major river corridor in the area from the Stillwater to the Little Miami. Second, our Dayton Masters Series is our fall league in which river recreation may slow down but river fishing remains hot! Third, we have two sister leagues under our blanket called Just Pescado and the Wading Fishing League.

NAPRA is always looking for new sponsors and members. A sponsor can provide anything from a free sample, catalog or merchandise. Go to for more details.
